From the Mekong Delta to Global Tables – Vietnam C***T Cooperative Upgrades Mango Processing with Smart Drying Line

Client Name: C***T Agricultural Cooperative Union

Country: Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Region: Tien Giang Province – Core mango growing area of the Mekong Delta

Core Products: High-grade dried mango (Cat Chu, Cat Hoa Loc varieties), dried jackfruit, dried banana

Equipment Configuration: Hadof customized multi-layer mesh belt hot air drying line (with integrated heat pump dehumidification module)

Commissioning Date: Q4 2018 (Phase 1) / Phase 2 expansion in 2022

The Mekong Delta is Vietnam's "fruit cradle." During the dry season, golden mangoes hang heavy, and the air is sweet with their fragrance. C***T Cooperative in Tien Giang province traditionally processed mangoes using sun drying and simple charcoal kilns, selling mainly to northern provinces and border markets.

However, the limitations of traditional methods became increasingly evident:

Weather Dependent, Inconsistent Quality: Despite a long dry season, sudden "Mekong showers" and consistently high humidity led to uneven drying, surface hardening, and mold from high internal moisture, with spoilage rates exceeding 18%.

Hygiene Below Export Standards: Open drying couldn't prevent insect and dust contamination. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu, cooperative head, recalled: "Our dried mango was sweet enough, but when Japanese clients first inspected, they shook their heads at the bamboo mats and bird nets."

Limited Capacity, Low Value: Unstable processing meant surplus mangoes during peak season sold cheaply, while stock was unavailable in the off-season, forcing low-margin sales of raw or primary dried fruit.

Solution: Finding a Drying Solution for "High Heat & Humidity"

The client's needs were clear: industrially replicate the natural sweetness of Vietnamese dried mango, meet strict Japanese/Korean standards, and adapt to the Delta's high humidity and unstable grid voltage.

After comparing Thai and Taiwanese equipment, the cooperative chose us. Our advantage: deep optimization for tropical monsoons, not a copy of temperate-climate designs.

Solution: Three Custom Designs for the Mekong Delta

1. "Heat Pump Dehumidification + Waste Heat Recovery" Dual System

To combat 80%+ ambient humidity, we integrated a closed-loop heat pump dehumidification module.

High Humidity Response: The system condenses and removes moisture from the drying chamber while recovering heat, blocking humid outside air. This ensures stable drying even in the rainy season.

Energy Saving: 45% less energy than traditional electric heating. The cooperative uses local biomass waste (coconut shells, mango pits) via a gasifier for auxiliary power, cutting costs further.

2. Flexible Process Database for Mango Characteristics

For Cat Chu mango (high sugar): A "three-stage" variable temperature process. Stage 1 (60°C) sets color to prevent browning; Stage 2 (50°C) with strong dehumidification slowly converts sugars; Stage 3 (45°C) balances moisture to 14-16%. The result: golden, translucent, non-sticky fruit with rich mango aroma.

For Jackfruit/Banana: Quick process switching via tray and airflow adjustments allows one machine to handle multiple products, extending annual operation.

3. Hygiene and Insect-Proof Design

The chamber uses 316L stainless steel, fully welded with no死角, withstands high-pressure steam cleaning, eliminating mold growth.

Air intakes feature G4 pre-filters + H10 medium filters, effectively blocking pollen, insects, and fine dust, meeting BRC global standards.

Client Testimonial: The "Golden Transformation" from Border Trade to Global Markets

After startup, C***T Cooperative was fundamentally transformed.

Capacity & Market Breakthrough

Daily Throughput: Increased from 3 tons of fresh fruit (weather-dependent) on traditional drying grounds to 15 tons/day continuous operation. On-time delivery jumped from <50% to 99%.

Export Certification: The enclosed stainless steel environment helped secure Japan's JAS Organic certification and pass Korea's MFDS import inspection. By 2024, dried mango exports to Japan/Korea grew 350%, with first-time entry into the Australian market.

Significant Economic Benefits

Product Premium: High-quality dried mango with uniform color and no impurities sells for 55% more than traditionally dried products, now stocked in Tokyo and Seoul specialty supermarkets.

Return on Investment: Ms. Nguyen happily calculated: "Our spoilage dropped from nearly 20% to under 2%. Just from reduced losses, the equipment paid for itself in under two years. Now we confidently buy mangoes in peak season, stabilizing incomes for over 300 local growers."

Energy & Environment

Green Production: The heat pump + waste heat recovery model cut carbon emissions by 50%, earning Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade "Green Industry" recognition and tax incentives.

"We used to think modern drying would lose the sunny taste of Vietnamese fruit. Hadof's equipment changed our view – real technology helps us perfectly preserve the Mekong's flavor, letting the world taste the purest golden dried mango."

—— C***T Agricultural Cooperative, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thu
